Luvia Petersen is a multi-nominated actor and director. She is best known for her work as the scrappy soldier Garza on SyFy’s Continuum for which she was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award and a Leo Award for best actress.
Her Directing credits include the Leo Nominated short film Dog Bite, which has screened internationally. The independent feature film Writing Kim which premiered at qFLIX Philadelphia in November 2020. Two music videos for local female fronted band Miss Quincy - one of which won an “Award of Excellence” at the 2016 Canadian International Film Festival. Luvia is the recipient of the 2019 Harold Greenberg Fund shorts-to-feature production grant for her short film “H.appiness” which will be released in Canada on CraveTV, and internationally on the streaming service DUST in the summer of 2021.
Luvia’s most recent short film, iDorothy, was produced in collaboration with the Crazy8’s Film Society. iDorothy will premiere at the Crazy8’s gala on May 1st, 2021. Her current slate of projects includes the feature film “Missing Pieces”, set to go to camera in 2021.
